I often use your option to change note color because I teach very young students. I say "Red notes for Right hand." After changing eat note and its stem (individually which is a bit of a pain - not sure why each full quarter note from bottom to top doesn't change color when the note is selected), the window to select the color swatch from grows larger and larger with each visit. Eventually I have to close the entire muse score program and restart in order to continue on and change more note colors. I get approximately 10-15 color change requests in before this bug happens. It would also be very useful to me to be able to highlight and select a large group of notes (the entire treble clef line for example) and change the color of the notes as a group in one swoop.

Unfortunately, you cannot change the entire note and stem at once. I would prefer to allow it, but it's a bit complicated because of the way notes are defined by the program. I think changing the note head is sufficient in most cases, but you can select stems by selecting a range, right click a stem and use select>all similar elements in range selection.

The color selector growing on a Mac was a problem in previous versions of MuseScore that was fixed. Apparently someone reintroduced that bug, so it needs fixed.
