Clicking on a measure highlights all measures in the row

Hi, I just got MuseScore today. I am very excited to use it but am having some trouble.
On thing that is driving me nuts is trying to select a single measure for deletion. I click on the space in the measure but the entire row gets a blue box. I am not touching any other keys. I am only clicking on the measure. I have tried resizing the blue box using the mouse and that has not worked either.

Also, MuseScore is not adding bars, I have to add them myself. WHy is that? When I complete the number of beats in a measure, why are bars not added automatically?

Can anyone help?

thanks

I've never heard of the problem with the mouse selecting entire lines before. What happens if you click a single note? Which operating system do you have?

MuseScore does not automatically add measures. That was a decision made years ago. If you want more measures, you must add them and that's the way it is. I always make a point of adding too many measures. I then delete the extras when I'm done.

Thanks for getting back to me. I am using Windows10. If I click a single note, just the note is selected. But when I click on a space in the measure the entire row is selected. I tried to use a drag mouse selection. I was still unable to remove the measure in question.

This must be due to some combination of button clicks that has resulted in this behavior because my top row does not exhibit this. But the second and third rows do.

Maybe I'll just scrap what I did and start all over to see if I can do better.

I am sure I will have lots of other questions concerning the use of MuseScore. Things are not super intuitive to me.. like selecting "delete' in the right hand click popup menu and nothing happening.

Thanks again

The only thing I can think of that would cause more than one measure to be selected when clicking an empty space in a measure is if you are also pressing Shift (or, since you say you are not, maybe your Shift key is stuck). That would make a range selection of everything from the current selection to where you clicked. But that seems unlikely. Unless maybe your score is corrupt in some way that is causing one measure to appear several (or vice versa). Can you attach your score and steps to reproduce the problem? Also, can you make a screencast GIF or video so we can see what you are seeing?
