Key change notation
I needed to notate a march from a badly torn and damaged copy. No notation problems at all until I got to a key change before a repeated section. The convention is to put the key change in a blank bar after a double bar line and before the repeat sign, as shown in the picture. The only way I could find to notate this was to make the key change bar 1/8 instead of 6/8 and make the quaver rest invisible. This worked fine for printing but the quaver rest plays on playback of course. Is there any other way to notate this?

I didn't know about that "convention" you are talking.
Whatever, you can put the new key into the first bar of the repeated section, after the double bar line, BUT... You have to add a LINE JUMP in the bar before.
In this way, MuseScore will add an extra key notation at the end of the line prior the repeated section (which is the same visual effect of an empty bar) and you will not hear the extra time when you play the piece.

I can't find any reference to 'line jump' in the handbook, could you explain where it is please.

I come here only as a very last resort and after spending a long time searching the handbook for a solution to whatever problems I encounter, which I have done on this occasion. When I do come here I don't expect to be shouted at and I object to being shouted at. What @jotape1960 called line jump is really called system break... This is what I meant to say, no more.

To me it was very clear
I suspect that your problem is that the key signature is appearing after the repeat line in version 3, while it appeared as in your picture in version 2. I've see both and both are equally understandable to me.
Unfortunately they've made it impossible to notate it the way you want in version 3. All of my efforts are thwarted by bugs or auto placement. The only way I can see to add this barline is using a symbol (press Z and search for barline) and then moving it where you want it.

On the contrary Mike, v3 won't let the key signature appear after the repeat bar line. If you try to put it there the key sigature jumps into the end of the previous bar. Very odd.

How... Did you use the System Break tool and you didn't get a courtesy new key at line end, before the repeated section???
