• Mar 11, 2019 - 10:50

Musescore 3.0.4.21117 Rev. cda4080 on MacOS Mojave 10.14.3 Crashing repeatedly
Working on a simple score which consists of a Violin stave and Piano staves. Using the default SoundFont.
Steps resulting in repeated crashes as follows:
Select text in front of stave "Violin"
Select "stave/part properties" (under "Edit Element")
Select "Change Instrument",
Select "woodwind/flute",
Select "apply" , "OK"
= crash

I have tried other instruments with the same result...
Any tips appreciated (further details below)
Thanks

Hi Mike,
Whilst I can't speak for the original piano score, all I did was download the piano score from Musescore, added the violin stave, copy/pasted some notes from piano stave and inserted some violin notes. Being dissatisfied with the violin sound (I know Musescore is primarily for notation) i tried to find a more acceptable sound from the available instruments... and that caused the crashes.

I just had the same crash happen to me on a score being built from scratch. I edited the Trumpet parts (to change their names) and was about to do the same from the Trombones (to get Trombone 1 and Trombone 2). Right clicked on Trombone (the first one in the staff) and it crashed. I have attached the score (which hardly has anything in it) and the crash dump. When Musescore reopened, I was able to right-click on Trombone with no crash - so this appears to be intermittent. I will keep monitoring to see if it happens again and if I can narrow the cause.
