Fermatas stay full size, even on a small staff, and even when the notes are small
It seems I am only able to change the size of fermatas globally. There is no option to scale them with the note size or staff size. Or am I missing something?

It's a known bug. See #286645: Elements not scaling with staff size
I recently submitted a fix for this, hopefully it will be in the next update. But it's worth mentioning, it will only respond to the staff size, not the note size. That's because fermatas aren't actually attached to notes, but to the "segment" or time position (there could after all, be multiple notes in multiple voices at that position). So we probably need a "small" checkbox on the fermata itself. That seems worth submitting as a feature request aka "Suggestion" in the issue tracker.

Thank you. I have a small staff, as well as small notes, and it is still full size. I seem to remember in the previous version there wasn't a problem with this.

True - in the past, fermatas really were attached notes rather than to segments, so they got small along with the notes they were attached to. I think you can reasonably expect to see this fixed for small staves in the next update.

Excellent. Do consider this: Fermatas are also used in cadenzas and ossias. Sometimes cadenzas are written as small notes, and when they appear in an ossia, they are also on a small staff.
Thanks Marc!
