Brackets and Percussion not working

Each time I try and add a bracket to a single-line instrument, either nothing happens, or the score just shifts slightly. How can I fix this? I need a percussion section!

I'm a little confused, though, how does adding bracket turn a one-staff into a section? Don't you really want to add staves to your score? And once you do that, then you can worry about whether or not you also want a bracket, and if you decide you do, it should work fine.

OK, I see what you mean. Workaround for now could be to temporarily add a line to the staff (right-click, Staff Properties), add and resize your bracket, then remove the extra line.

Probably there should be a minimum bracket size we enforce for single-line staves, much as we do for barlines. I encourage you to submit an official bug report for this in via Support / Issue tracker, above.

Having a similar problem. I just downloaded version 3 after using 2 for years. First score in new version, nothing fancy, 2 voices (alto + bass). Cannot place any kind of bracket or brace. Drag & drop any element in brackets and braces palette show little red "don't do this" barred circle. Element absolutely refuses to stick to staff. Also tried select & click, doesn't work either.

I take it these aren't one-line staves? Then it should work. Are you sure you're dropping on the staff? You have to wait for the measure to highlight, and the icon will change.

If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score, there could be something else going on like invisible staves getting in the way?
