so ill start Musescore after the 3.1 update, and it immediately says "Musescore 3.exe has stop working" and after closing the prompt box immediately closes. any solutions?

Which operating system? Which version have you been using before?

The version i've been using was Musecore 3 on my old HP Pavilion dv6, which runs on Windows 7 (gosh, so old!)

does a factory reset help?
I wonder whether this is relatad to https://musescore.org/en/node/289838, does the 32bit version of MuseScore 3.1 work?

i dont know if this info helps, but when i start up musescore, it doesnt just directly crash, it gives a prompt box with the text "Musescore3.exe has stopped working, searching for a solution" shortly after it will say "musescore3.exe has stopped working" with an 1 option box labeled "ok", clicking "ok" will close the program. I would prefer to use the 64bit version

My question was not what you prefer, but whether thee 32bit version works.
And if it does, this might be a workaround.

Alright, Finally did it and im happy to report that it works swell, thank you for your help (i was also delighted to see the addition of the Inkpen 2 fonts)

So the 32bit version works? If so this indeed does seem to be the same issue as being discussed in https://musescore.org/en/node/289838
(and no, there's no addition of an InkPen 2 font, but a fix in the underlying Qt librararies to properly deal with user fonts, IIRC)
In reply to So the 32bit bersion works? by Jojo-Schmitz
Oh I see, yes the 32bit works and I saw that inkpen (and some other fonts) were now in my font list so I thought it was an addition of those certain fonts. Thank you so much for your help.
