Playback not following tempo marks (MS 3.1.0.7078)

There seems to be a lot of new playback problems with MS 3.1. I scrolled through the forums to make sure this wasn't reported before but to my surprise I couldn't find anything.

Basically, when playing hitting play, the playback doesn't always follow the tempo marking (instead, playing in the default 120 bpm). This is a bug that used to happen in Musescore 2 and its very unpleasant to see it return here. It happens universally (in all of my projects) and I could not find any patterns that relate to it. Only some times the playback engine recognizes the current tempo marking but mostly ignores it and plays in 120bpm...

Am I the only one having this?
