Playback not working
Since I had to reset my computer and re-installed Musescore, playback is no longer working. Any advice on how to get it to work?

Hi, Mike!
I've tried all the options suggested in the node/96811 above but the synthesizer remains resolutely greyed-out on MuseScore. Any other advice?

In preferences there is a button in the I/O tab that says Resart Audio and MIDI Devices. Clicking this has been known to help. I actually thought it was on node 96811.

I think it was so I tried it and the synthesizer is still greyed out. I'm giving up for tonight-had enough!

Does other audio work? I.E. music and video players?
What kind of "reset" did you do? If you reinstalled the OS then it's possible you don't have quite the correct drivers yet. A reset does not automatically install the latest drivers
I music players work then look for a setting inside Musescore. Maybe try all the output drivers listed (DS, MME, etc.). Sometimes one of those drivers work and others don't.

Yes, since the reset, (back to factory settings) YouTube and Facebook videos play and Groove Music is fine too. Just seems to be Musescore that has problems.

Are you on windows? of so in the taskbar right click the volume icon Open master volume mixer and make sure MuseScore is not muted.

Yes and nothing is muted on mixer.

The mixer won't affect the play panel display, even if you mute all instruments in a score.
Did you upgrade from version 2.x to 3.2.3? If so (or maybe even if not), open your settings, go to Devices and navigate to the driver and see if you can update your driver for your sound card.

Thanks Mike. Windows had the latest version of Windows 10, so downloaded and installed it. Musescore is now working!
