Harmonics in tablature

• Aug 21, 2019 - 16:08

Hi,
I'm a bit confused! Need to write the open string (E) as a harmonic on the 5th string; my problem is that MuseScore automatically defaults that to fret 19? Fret 7 produces exactly the same note and I would prefer to have it there - fret 7 not 19 - is there a way to achieve this please? Have read some forums on the subject of Harmonics but no answers as far as I can see! Maybe it's obvious maybe not!
Thanks in anticipation...

Thanks but I don't think that is the answer!
To clarify in case of any misunderstandings: (1) I forgot state that the instrument is the guitar; (2) staff plus linked staff in tab: 4th space E on treble staff (as a harmonic) defaults to fret 19 on linked tab staff but I want it at fret 7! Exactly the same note! How can I change 19 to 7 on the tab staff without changing the octave of my treble staff E - 4th space?
Thanks

The idea in either case is to make the unneeded fret mark invisible and use staff text to show it on the tab. The example I linked to had a user that was less concerned with playback and more concerned with notation. In your case, make the 19 invisible and add the <7> as text.

Here I am again,
Just to let you know I found a solution that works for me: Make the 19 invisible; type the number 7 and drag it into position on the tab staff! Perfect and with no clumsy looking brackets and plays perfectly! The 19, although invisible, is still present and functional.
Thanks again...
Bill

I didn't hear any complaining from you, just a request for help in doing something MuseScore does not do automatically. I'm a program user like you who likes to help others with the program, though I do talk to the programmers more than most. There really isn't anyone passionate about the guitar contributing a lot to the program right now so it's not likely to happen very soon. I agree, this would be a nice feature to add.
