Trills change position every time I save this particular score I am working on.

• Oct 26, 2019 - 12:41

Context: I have mostly custom positions for the trills in this score for neatness, but every time I save the score they change position. I have tried putting them back but every time without fail they will change.
In fact one time I uploaded a score and it updated with the correct positions, but when I checked the score at a later date even though I hadn't changed it the trill positions had changed for no reason.
Have no clue how to resolve this issue, really annoying, affected score link;

You'll need to explain how you are moving the trills, because I moved just about every trill on pages 3 & 4 and they're still moved. Also, could you do us a favor and change the attachment to just a link, it takes for ever to load. Edit your post and remove the empty line(s) before your attachment.

Thank you for editing the original post, it literally took 2-3 minutes for me to be able to respond the first time waiting for the picture in the score to load.

I selected several of the tr ornaments on pages 3 & 4, used the inspector, dragged some around and they are all where I left them. The score was created in version 2.something. Are you seeing this when you load the score from your computer or only when you download it from the website? I tested this using version 2.3.2. I uploaded it to my account at https://musescore.com/user/6105546/scores/5815881. When I downloaded it and opened it in 2.3.2 everything was where it is right now. Here is a picture of the relevant parts of page 4 for so you can compare my results.

I'll delete it from my account sometime after you respond.

There must be something going on the the process you are using since we've eliminated musescore.org as the problem.

To move the trills, I changed the x and y offsets in the inspector for some of them and dragged some of the others with my mouse. This is the only thing I did in your score. I also saved it right on top of the score I downloaded from you rather that using save as. I'm trying to think of something different you might have done, but those are the only things that come to me right now. I haven't heard of this happening to other users like this. Perhaps you could attach the score with self-moved trills and I could figure something out from that. Start with the score on my account.

Could be this is one of the thousands of bugs fixed since that older release. I definitely recommend updating - for this and many other reasons. If you continue to have issues with a current version, please let us know the precise steps to reproduce the problem.

I will be figuring out this problem soon but sorry I can't post too often, getting caught up with real life things getting in my way.
I just triple,quadruple checked that editing trills for myself will still reset, and it does every time without fail, simply by using the inspector and nothing else. As even if dragging them around manually even worked it would be very messy and I wouldn't want that anyways.
I also a reluctant to update as I feel like the new version of Musescore as I tested it out by loading some of my unfinished scores (of which half of what I have uploaded to this site is) will have it's layout changed dramatically and thus having to re-work all my scores again, which is a near impossible task.

Well, it's true that there were enormous improvements to the default layout in MuseScore 3, so scores that used manual adjustments to work around deficiencies in the default layout in msueScore 2 will indeed need rework. it's usually pretty easy once you get the hang of it, but anyhow, you can have both installed so for scores you don't need to work o much (just an occasional re-print or fixing a typo) you can keep using 2, then use 3 for huge time savings it will give you in producing new scores, or making larger scale changes to existing scores.

But meanwhile, if you could give precise step by step instructions to follow we can keep certainly trying to reproduce the problem. If it turns out to be a bug, there won't be much to do about it, the bug was almost certainly fixed long ago. But maybe it will turn out there is something you are doing incorrectly, in which case we can help.
