abbreviations instruments
how can I move the abbreviations so that they are visible?

They should be in front of the stave by default.
Please attach the score so we can investigate why it isn't in your case.
I guess there's a bad x-Offset in the text style setting for "Instrument name (Short)"
To help me better, I add the score to it. Also an image of the Syle settings.

Exactly what I guessed, that X-Offset needs to be set to 0
The way it is set currently is resulting in what you get.

I do not know how the settings have changed but have found the solution based on a previous question.
It was indeed via: Layout-Text Styles-instruments short name.

Possibly the names got dragged by accident, thus changing the offset.
