Repitch note entry should ignore all rests.
Every once in a while, I find the Repitch note entry option very convenient. However, the convenience is dramatically reduced if I have to stop 'Repitching' on my MIDI keyboard to account for rests.
Rests should simply be ignored when using the Repitch note entry option.

They are ignored for me, at least with keyboard entry or with the Piano Keyboard window, which in most ways mimics MIDI input. Are you only seeing this with MIDI? Can you post a sample score and precise steps to reproduce the problem?

Thanks for replying. Its kind of like a coin flip. Sometimes they are ignored, but most times (at least for me) they are not.
And the only note entry I ever use is from my MIDI keyboard, so I don't know what the behavior is otherwise.
Here is a good example.
Start with the first measure note in the right hand (A) and use repitch.
When you get to the third measure it will stop on the 2nd eighth rest.
This is with MIDI keyboard entry.
I am using apple products.

I don't have a MIDI keyboard handy to test with, but it works fine for me with computer keyboard or Piano Keybaord, Can you try those to verify if the problem is specific to MIDI input or is something specific to your system more generally? BTW, do be sure you are using the current version (3.4.2) as bugs are constantly being fixed.

Ok it works fine with the Musescore online piano keyboard and computer typing keyboard, but not with my MIDI (real keyboard piano)
I can't see this being a problem with my setup. I have a CASIO PX-560M currently hooked up. But it does the same thing with my Nord keyboard, my Yamaha, an old school Roland, and my cheap MIDI controller.
If someone else could verify maybe using a MIDI keyboard of their own on Windows? Maybe it is an iMac problem?
I am using current version of Musescore. Repitch note entry has had the same problem in every version of Musescore (at least for me)
Well thanks for looking into it.

So, is it that rests right before a chord do this? Can you describe the behavior in more detail? What actually happens when you say it "stops" on the rest. Press a MIDI key does nothing?

Actually, the potential bug isn't as bad as I thought
If it lands on a rest, you can just press the any note on the MIDI keyboard and it will push forward to the next note.
It still should never land on a rest.
But it does skip forward to the next note if you press any note on MIDI keyboard (while the cursor is focused on the rest)
I was stopping and using my computer keyboard, which is a pain.
Here is my description of the bug:
When using Re-pitch note entry with a MIDI keyboard, at apparently random times, the cursor will incorrectly stop at a rest.
At which time the user has to press a key on the MIDI keyboard or computer keyboard to get the cursor to move forward to the next note.
(I was under the impression I had to use the computer keyboard to get the cursor to move forward again, but the MIDI keyboard works as well. And being able to forward the cursor with the MIDI keyboard is a very, very, very minor inconvenience as opposed to halting everything to reach over and use the computer again)

Does it seem connected to the presence of chords as I suggested above? Or maybe it has to do with which note you are entering - perhaps that key was defined for remote control in Edit / Preferences / Note Input? Or that key is just stuck and not send note off messages?
