Color Notes

I see that you can use a plugin to color notes for beginners à la Boomwackers, but I have a different application. I would like to color a phrase that is sung by the lead vocalist blue (or whatever) and color the phrases sung by the backup singer as green (or whatever) so it's by phrase, rather than by pitch value. I could separate them into two voices or staves I know, but that's work. I have tried the set color in the editor but it doesn't seem to do anything. I guess this time I'll just put the lyrics in two different fonts, but it would be really cool to color the notes in the phrases. Please advise. Thanks!
