Chord Symbol offset keeps resetting to zero

• Apr 17, 2020 - 09:33

Hi,

I'm creating a Fretboard Diagram summary at the end of a song. I add a Diagram and turn off 'Automatic placement' for both the Diagram and its Chord symbol. I can relocate the Diagram and set the position of the Chord symbol by dragging or using the X/Y offsets in the Inspector. Everything looks fine, and I save the file.

But when I re-open the file, the Chord symbol is showing in it's default position (see image), and the Inspector shows its X/Y offsets as zero. Apologies if it's user error.

Thanks.

in order to understand and assist better, we would need you to attach the actual score, not just a picture,. And give precise steps to reproduce the problem.

But FWIW, for what you are doing, I think instead of dragging things way out of position, you're probably better off placing them as images using the Image Capture tool on the toolbar.

Thanks Marc,

Here's a trivial score with a single Fretboard diagram. Also attached are before & after screenshots. To re-create:

  • Start a new score, single staff.
  • Add a Fretboard diagram to the final rest.
  • Turn 'Automatic placement' off for both the Diagram and the Chord symbol.
  • Drag the diagram below the final system.
  • Expand the Diagram to Scale = 1.60.
  • For the Chord symbol, use the Inspector to set Offset Y = -2.00sp.
  • Looks good (see first image attached), so Save the file.

  • Close the file.

  • Re-open the file (File > Open Recent).
  • The Chord symbol has moved (see second image attached).
  • Note that the Inspector now shows its Offset Y = 0.00sp.

It's a good idea to use Image Capture for my fretboard diagram summary. But it does seem like a bug when information appears to be lost in the Save/Re-open process. I'm using MuseScore 3.4.2 on Windows 10.

Thanks.
