Make Metronome count halftime?
Hello everybody!
There might be an obvious solution for this, but...
Is there a way to make the metronome count halftime?
I though the logical solution would be to insert a tempo mark with a half note and halftime tempo but the metronome still counts 4 beats every measure instead of every half note.
Thanks in Advance!
Marcello

A corresponding tempo text of course won't help, but a corresponding time signature might/should

Thanks, that kinda works, but it messes up the Bar Structure. To make the Problem clear. I transcribed a part of a Gilmour Solo on wish you were here. While the Tempo is around 125. The Band accompanies in Half-Time feel. I wanted this to be represented by the Click, but have the Solo still notated in 4/4. A way around this could be to make the Metronome click only on 1 and 3. If that is possible.

No. Not on a 4/4 time sig

Does 1 & 3 with a cut common time sig.

That´s essantiellay what Jojo suggested and what i did. But i already notated in 4/4 and i actually just want the metronome to count halft time without affecting notation.

You could change to cut time - which doesn't change anything about the notation except for the time signature itself - and then use Time Signature Properties to force it to display as 4/4.

Hi Marc, I often read your speeches and I don't know if you are one of the programmers. Having said that, I have also sought the solution to this problem, but I see it has existed for many years without a solution. I say, but is it so difficult to add to the metronome preferences a function that indicates which figure he should play (semibreve, minima, quarter notes, eighth notes, etc.)? Hi and thanks for your attention.

I am indeed on of the programmers, although I don't typically work on playback-related functions and have never looked at the metronome code. Anyhow, sure, it's possible to add such an option, it's just a matter of someone with the necessary skills finding it a high enough priority. There are tons of other features that get requested far more often than this, plus bugs to fix, but no doubt if enough people request this feature it will rise in priority. The workarounds, though, are quite simply - as I said, change the time signature, or simply create your own metronome staff, which takes about 30 seconds and then also gives you the ability to customize the sounds further.
Another option is to add a click-track, for example with a woodblock instrument on which you write out the desired metronome. Then make that instrument invisible.

By the way, the Cut Time suggestion worked. I only tried 4/2 before, which didn´t give the desired result. Still , a more flexible Metronome is a debatable thing ;-) .
Thanks for the hints to all!
Cheers Marcello

Hello, I read this thread and also the other links but I haven't found a way to display a cut time tempo. My piece of music is in 2/2 at 110 but I can't find a way to show the tempo as in the image attached. I can only show it as a "crotchet = 220". Is there a way to display as a "minim = 110"? Thanks
