Possible bugs?

I've been using Musescore (OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.4.2.9788, revision: 148e43f) quite a bit recently and noticed some bugs. Are they legit?

  1. Sometimes when loading up Musescore, when I drag the pedal mark from the palette it disappears from the palette and leaves a blank box that is not clickable. I have only reproduced this while Musescore window was half of my screen (not sure if that matters), and this was with the grand clef. I was able to get a pic of it.

  2. Same settings as above, but when I play the piece, I sometimes come across a measure line on the grand clef that is missing the middle portion connected the treble and bass clefs ledger lines. When I click on the top portion though, it reappears. I was not able to get a pic of this.

  3. This one is an audio issue that happens infrequently but on any Musescore setting I've used. Sometimes after using the Musescore app and closing it, the right audio channel becomes static at full volume, regardless of what my computer volume level is (unless it's muted). It plays that static whenever any sound is supposed to come out. The only way that it disappears is by restarting the laptop. This is not a speaker or headphone issue since it happens with any of those. This issue hasn't happened with any application before, only after using Musescore, so that's why I suspect it's something to do with Musescore?

Thank you all in advance. I'll do a full bug report if they seem legit.

  1. So don't drag from the palette. Select note in the sore where you want the element to go then select the element in the palette.
  2. Not sure what this is. If it doesn't affect playback or the final score, is it really a problem?
  3. Sounds like a possible audio issue. Check the manufacturer for an updated driver.

Hey bobjp, thank you for the suggested workarounds. This, however, doesn't address the fact that it is still a bug, and even if it is a minor one, it would still benefit the developers if this were brought up. Appreciate the suggestions though!

1) is a known glitch that happens very sporadically, seems to be related to timing - how long you hold the palette icon before starting the drag - and the direction of the drag. It fixes itself the next time the palette is re-calculated, like if you change workspaces, or restart the program. So far we haven't been able to reproduce it reliably enough to come up with a fix.

2) you mean that while it's playing back you see a visual glitch but it's fixed when the playback stops? I haven't seen this particular one, but there have been other similar ones, let us know if you come up with precise steps to reproduce the problem

3) while it's certainly possible MuseScoree is doing something that triggers this, if you are hearing sound from your speaker after MuseScore exists, that suggests a bug in your OS or audio driver or in some other application that is still running
