line text above & below not working

If I create a line, and then set the text of the line (via right click & line properties) to be below or above the line, the text is not correctly put above or below, but rather simply overlaps (as circled in red). Interestingly, the volta handles the default (below line) ok, however if I set text to display above line, then nothing happens:

I'm almost thinking there should be a 3rd option "overlap", to represent how musescore seems to handle above & below for the plain line. :)
