insert measures one at a time
I was scoring and must have hit a wrong button , whereby when I INSERT a measure and keep repeating , I get a thick BAR LINE with " ex. 5 written on it. Unwanted. How do I go back to seeing each bar seperately as blanks bars ... ?

Hard to say without seeing the specific score your are having problems with and precise steps to reproduce the problem. Could be the score is corrupt, could be you are doing something incorrectly, or it could be that you are simply seeing the measure number which you can turn off via Style / General / Header, Footer, Numbers.
