Weird pitch/key signature changes

• May 4, 2016 - 20:56

I went from Basic to Advanced mode and somehow my key signature of d minor was changed to the the theoretical key of d sharp minor ( Usable e flat minor), Now my piece is a mess--The key signature will change back to one flat, but then the notes in the in emetire piece pick up all the sharps as accidentals. I have tried Select All and then transpose down a minor 2nd but does not work. Double sharps all over, etc. My score is now unusable until this can be fixed.* The correct score can be seen on MS.com as it was uploaded there before the mishap).Someone? Could it be that you accidentally pressed F2, resulting in a transposed score?
If so, press Shift-F2 for the reverse operation, which works quite nice on the score you linked.

Also, if you hadn't changed much since discovering the changed key signature, you could also try to undo the operations until the correct key was restored (CTRL-Z)

Yes I do remember pressing F2 at some point. I tried that, but i could only get it to back into an e minor version, with the notes C notated as B sharps! I worked with the Cnrl Z operation, but now it looks to me like the score has been destroyed! Don't know what happened. It must have changed itself back into the d sharp minor. or I d forgot to save the nightmarish version that finally resulted from going back with F2, etc. The nightmare one even changed intervallic relationships, etc. I just went back and pressed F2 some more until a scrambled nightmare version appeared, but it would NOT save for me to use it as an attachment to show you. It says it's a locked file???! Don't know how you got the F2 to work for you on my file at your PC? DId not work for me so far. (See below after all, I got the latest one to save.)

F2 transposes up only. What I did was using Shift-F2, the reverse operation.

1. Open the score from your first post
2. Press Shift-F2
3. File > Save As...

Result attached to this post.

If you're working from a locked file, chances are you're working from a temporary or recovered file. In that case first doing a 'File > Save As..' to your normal location could remove the lock.

Somehow, after pressing Shift + F2, I wound up in A minor! Then, I selected all, and by using Notes/Transpose up a Perfect 4th, it did go back into the right key, d minor (modal). Then I saved it as. So it looks like I'm OK now on thIS..
Another weird frustrating thing though is my page one is still not right. At the bottom it says 2016. ( A copyright date.) It's incorrect . And it will NOT select for me to change it. seems to be permanent. And it seems once you have set up a score, you can't go back and access the very beginnings of what you chose? What can I do. (Copyright should read 1984.)
Thanks for your replies.

This has accidentally happened to me twice now. I think this is an instance where Musescore might better ask "are you sure you want to…" before transposing. It is easy to miss for a bit, by then things get really messed up.
