Just a few instrument ideas

• Jun 9, 2011 - 02:10

To the creators/developers/programmers and all those who have made musescore possible I would first like to take the time to say thank you for two things. First of all for creating this free program that has allowed me to explore my passion for music to a whole new level, and second for introducing me to the armenian instrument "duduk" due to the fact musescore can write for said instrument.

So after coming across the duduk through this software I myself purchased one and I have now become a lover of exotic instruments. I solely have two ideas for instruments that would be a fun addition. The first is the chinese hulusi, a very popular(obviously more so in China) free reed chinese instrument. Second is a relatively new instrument known as the xaphoon (you can check it out at xaphoon.com). I personally doubt any music notation software can write for the xaphoon, so musescore could be innovative in that way.

But truly, musescore is so amazing, thank you!

If you just want the instrument name to appear, you can take any other instrument then edit the name by right clicking the staff and picking Staff Properties. You can also edit the instruments.xml file to add whatever instrument names you wish. But if you want it to playback with those sounds, that's a matter for the designers of soundfonts, not for MuseScore itself. It may be there is already a soundfont out there that contains the instruments you want.
