Articulations

Sorry if this has been asked before, but either I can't find an answer or am not using the correct search terminology.

The question is simple; how do I add a continuous articulation instruction to a MuseScore file? For instance, I'd like to add the text "ben marcato" to the beginning of a score, and for all notes from that point to play back in that style until a point where it's replaced by a "legato" instruction. Obviously, I could add a marcato articulation to every note and make it invisible, but surely there's an easier way.
