Zerberus sound examples!
Hi,
I wanted to show you some of the progress of Zerberus. For these examples I used the SSO sfz soundfont. But I would like you to tell me which other soundfonts might be interesting to play with?
So I wanted to show how important looping is and so I took something slow - and what could be better than Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings? I used this score.
So here is it in MuseScore 2.0.3 and here my new version.
I also found some other adagio for strings composed by a MuseScore user. It shows the same thing:
current zerberus
improved zerberus
I also think the slower attack makes the sound much smoother and nicer. I didn't use reverb which might not sound so good but I think - you can hear the differences between old and new version better this way.
I also wanted to have a look at a big Score! So here is a part of Beethoven's 9th symphony!
old zerberus
new zerberus
With this score I also discovered that I forgot to have the release part of the envelop always starting with last volume value. I fixed it - which improved the playback for this one a lot. There is still some mysterious clicking at about 33seconds and 36 seconds. It seems it is done by the Horns. But I haven't found out yet what is the problem.
So I hope you get an idea about the new changes :) And I'm happy to hear your feedback!
EDIT: I think I found the problem - it happens when two staffs with the same instruments play the same notes quite fast. I'll have to investigate what goes wrong though...
EDIT2: Found the clicking bug. It was because the handle note off method didn't check if the note was already turned off and during the turn off of a note the release envelope gets rescaled the the value of the current envelope - but since it is itself and it is not at the beginning it doesn't behave the right order. But now I just check if the voice is already in "stopped" mode and don't stop it again.
Here is the file with the fixed bug.

Nice job!
Wow! The only thing that I have to say against Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra is that the flute part for some reason plays an octave higher than written.
Thank you for this post, I need this sounds, thanks for share this, is a great work.
