Vertical align in an HBox

• Jul 27, 2011 - 19:56

I'm creating a piano score with several "sections", each one starting with an HBox thus indenting the section. I deleted the long and short instrument names. The title of the section should be in the middle of the accolade where you would find the word "Piano".

The only way I found to do that is right click on the HBox > Add Text > Frame Text. However it is shown at the top of the frame. Changing the text "center text vertical to reference point", but the text stays at the top, even shifting a bit more up. The only "workaround" I found is by changing the Y-offset manually until I was happy with the result. This is not very clean if you ask me. Is there a better way to do that or should I file a feature request?

First, see if the behavior is the same in 1.1 (just released minutes ago!). They did make a few improvements to text handling, including some cases where alignment was being ignored. 2.0 will have more significant improvements still. chances are good that this already works as expect in 2.0.

But for now, if 1.1 doesn't fix this for you now, then as an alternative, what about creating the names as ordinary staff text, or perhaps a rehearsal mark then just dragging it into position?
