Advanced cross staff beam question

I am working on transcribing an arrangement of a Louis Gottshalk peice and the piano parts have a particular example of cross staff beaming that I have not figured out how to reproduce. Is possible? The main issue is how to tie a half-note chord in the bass clef to a 16th note in the treble clef. Or perhaps I misunderstand the notation?

If not, I would create that bass octave as an having the duration of an eighth note (instead of a half note), followed by the cross-staff A as another eighth note. Next, (1) select the two notes of the octave, (2) right-click and choose Note Properties, and (3) change the Note Head Type from s (solid) to half.

If you need that octave to play back with the full value of a half note, you could follow the above steps ... and then superimpose another identical octave as half notes in Voice 2, which you would then Set Invisible. (Or, alternatively, Set Invisible the original octave of eighth notes ... and then superimpose another identical octave as visible half notes in Voice 2.)

Any residual unwanted rests in the bass clef can then be Set Invisible as well.

That works. I am using option two since I want the playback to be as accurate as I can get it.

Since this is odd notation, I don't know if this is something that should be a more direct feature of the software or or not.
Perhaps someone can evaluate it for what it is worth.

It's quite odd, but not unheard of. I wouldn't expect something like that to be supported directly, but I would hope it was possible to get the efect via invisible notes or similar trickery and have playback work. The Schnabel edition of the Betthoven Pathetique sonata has a similar looking notation, not cross saff, but it means something entirely different as ar as playback goes. So even if the notation itself were supported directly, I don't think there would be any one single thing it would be expected to produce in playback. So trickery will be needed no matter what.
