Tremelo

I need to do a Tremelo between two quavers and I believe this should be done with a two stroke symbol ( without stem ) between the two notes.I selected the first note but when I drag the symbol it does not stay attached it only attaches when I double click on it after selecting the first note but there again it attaches itselve to the stem of the first note and I cannot seem to shift it to between the notes.
