defeating courtesy time sigs

Hello all,
I have been through the thread "Remove cautionary time signature?" with great interest, since I'm working on a score which will consist of many short movements, which I'd like to do as ONE Musescore file.
One specific question arises at the moment: with Style --> Edit General Style --> Page, I can uncheck "create courtesy time sigs/key sigs"... But I am faced with a courtesy time sig which has already been created.
Unchecking "create courtesy time sigs" will help for future movement breaks, but when I "make invisible" the existing courtesy time sig, I'm left with space after the barline which I don't want.
Can this be fixed? How??
