deleting measures in a single voice line without deleting them in the other voices
Is it possible to delete measures in one voice of a multi voice score without deleting them in the other voices? I have not been able to figure this out. I am using musescore version 1.3 revision 5702 and using windows 7 home premium.

I think it is time for some definitions:
To delete a measure in musescore means to remove it entirely, i.e. if you delete a measure in piece of 24 measures you'll end up with a piece of 23 measures. And obviously all voices in a piece have to have the same measure count, even if some of these measures are empty.
So this is not what you want. Do you mean to delete one voice for the duration of a measure? Do you have more than one voice per staff in your score?
Either way you'll have to select the notes you want deleted and delete (cut) them, leaving the empty measure in place.

I am sorry I wasn't very clear. Somehow as I was copying my score I added two extra measures to violin 1 so now violin 1 has 2 extra measures (of rest) but they are in the middle of the piece not the end, so when I delete them, it deletes the two measures in the second violin as well, creating a second violin with 2 few measures. Does that make sense?

So you are saying everything is off by two measures? Meaning the parts don't actually line up correctly? In which case, you need to shift the notes in the first violin part two measures earlier in time so they line up correctly. That's easy enough: select them, cut, then click where they should start, then paste.

Well yes it's off by two measures, but it's because I have 2 extra measures in the violin 1 part that are empty. This makes my violin 1 part 68 measures long when it is supposed to be 66 as the 2nd violin part is. I don't need the two empty measures at all. I don't want to cut and paste them, I just want to cut them and close the gap between them so that they line up with the 2nd violin properly. Does that make sense?

Yes, you want to cut and paste them - that's exactly how you'd move everything two measures earlier. As I said, select the measures you want to move earlier, cut, click the place where you want that passage to start instead (the first of the extra empty measures), paste. Done in seconds.

Hello there, So I am a horn player and am using this for the first time. I, too, have the same issue where the horn 1 part has 1 less measure than horn 2, 3, 4. I am not following at all of what to do in this case. I would want to move Horn 2, 3, 4 one measure but not touch horn 1

Hard to say more specifically without seeing your score, but in general: click the first measure you want to move, Shift+click the last, then use Ctrl+X to cut. now click where you want to move them to (a bar earlier or later I assume) and press Ctrl+V to paste.

Your violin I and violin II parts are the same overall length, which is to say they are both 68 meaures long. ALL parts in a score must contain the same number of measures; that is the way the progam is structured. It is impossible to write a multi-part score any other way.
However--it is entirely possible that you may only have 66 measures of NOTE CONTENT in one part--running from M.1-M.66-- while another part contains 66 measures of note content running from M.1-32, and from m. 35-68. The two measures of rest content in each part are thus out of sync with each other. That appears to be what has happened to you.
Marc is right on how to solve this problem: Cut and Paste. Select the CONTENT of the V.II part that you want to save, type CTL+X to cut it and copy it to the clipboard. Now select the two empty measures in the middle of your V.I part, and type CTL+DEL to eliminate them entirely on all staves. Finally, click on the beat in your V.II part on which you want the content saved to your clipboard to begin, and type CTL+V to paste the content in starting on that beat.
You should now have your two violin parts in sync in the score, and you will be left with a 66-measure-long piece...in all parts.
