Changing clefs in imported midi file

I imported a midi file of a Bach cantata so I could change the clefs. When I reset the clef at the beginning from treble8 to bass (in the tenor part) , there are numerous "forced" clefs throughout that do not change, and will not be changed. I am a novice. Any suggestions? I removed line breaks which caused these phantom clefs to reappear in odd places.
