Different actual measure durations in different instruments?

Does anyone know if there's a way to have one actual duration (for example 15/8) in one instrument and another (say, 4/4) in another instrument? I'm arranging in 15/8 and the chord background would look much better if they were whole notes instead of a whole note tied to a double dotted half note or a double dotted whole note tied to an eighth note.
Thankful for answers!

Thinking about it, it would probably mess up the playback quite a bit, were it possible. I think I'll just make a whole note and set the rest to invisible.

But what do you mean by the link? I know that a whole note is 4 quarter notes and not 15 eighth notes as it will look like in the score but the ones that are going to play it will know that it means "play the whole measure". I know it's not mathematically correct but I thought it would be easier to read this way. :)
