guitar notation
I can't find how to enter guitar strums. I know how to enter the guitar chord itself, but I want to enter that forward slash thing that would represent a quarter note strum, and then how to do eights or halves or trips.

I assume you are referring to slash notation. See the Handbook under "Tools", the section "Rhythmic Slash Notation". Basically, enter the rhythms first, in any pitches, then select and run Edit / Tools / Toggle Rhythmic Slash Notation. There is also "Fill With Slashes" if you don't need to show any particular rhythm,

Thank you Marc, I found the feature and figuring out how to use it. For example, how to make a triplet or shuffle feel in the guitar.
Also, how can I make the guitar part sound during playback? I've got a chord assigned to the measure and did the fill w slashes in that measure, but it doesn't playback. (I checked and that instrument is not muted.)

The guitar part sounds if you enter actual notes. If all you do is enter strum rhythms and chord symbols, you won't get sound. If you need to hear that, you can enter the actual notes on another staff and make it invisible in Edit / Instruments.
