setting tempo
hi, I set the tempo for my score but almost halfway it suddenly changes...
Is there a way to set the tempo for the entire score?
Another thing is one can only specify the quarter note as beat, which is funny since it is not always so...

That sounds weird onno - can you attach your score so we can take a look?
Were you setting tempo from the Play window or in the score?
You can assign a Tempo text to a note which you can then use to define the tempo.
The playback engine always uses quarter notes per minute as its unit, but you can define any unit you like to be the beat in a tempo text, provided you adjust it to quarter notes per minute in the parameter sent to the playback engine.

There's something resetting the tempo in the second tune, twice.
Did the tunes by any chance originate as MIDI files??
And regarding the units - I'm afraid that's how computers think - the Finale playback engine works the same way.

yes they did, I imported them but there was no change in the original file... Is there a way of taking that "something" out?
"I'm afraid that's how computers think"
no, computers do not think. It is how one programes them ;) still, it is not much of an issue, i can do the calculation myself.

There was a similar report recently where it turned out the person had imported the MIDI, which had a specific tempo recorded within it, then he added a bunch of measures to the beginning of the file. Those measures add to the file at the beginning came before the MIDI tempo marking, so they played back at the default tempo of 120 (or as scaled by the Play panel settings), and then it switched to the origjnal MIDI's tempo when playback reached the part that was actually imported from MIDI. Solution would be to add the bars to the MIDI before importing. Not sure if it's possible to remove the MIDi tempo marking so that a tempo marking added at the beginning would remain in effect even once playback reached the originally imported section.

Yes load the MIDI file into a sequencer and use the Event list to locate and delete the Tempo event(s)
Resave the MIDI file and re-import into MuseScore

okay, but that would leave only the notes. Like starting from scratch...
Never mind, I will leave it in print it and have it played :)

If you add a tempo text in the right places it will override the ones that have been imported.

"n the right places"
...hmmokay, so what is wrong with the place it is at ?
In reply to thanks by aeLiXihr
nothing. ChurchOrganist is not talking about the one you added yourself, but the 'invisilbe' ones from midi

Not sure I follow you when you say "that would leave only the notes". Do you mean, you done a lot of things to the file since i importing it, and you don't want to lose that work? If so, then yes, re-importing it is not going to be good. If you just want to fix the current file, you could try deleting the measure containing the tempo instruction, then inserting a new measure to take its place, and re-entering just those notes. You could also try opening the MSCZ archive in a ZIP utility, extracting the MSCX file contained within, and opening that with a text editor, then finding and deleting the tempo instruction.
