Building chords down rather than up

• Dec 24, 2016 - 12:44

I input music using my computer keyboard. I enter my tune and then go back and add notes to each stem to create the chords. The problem is that all notes added to an existing stem using the Shift key are added above the existing note which then requires a second step to drop the note down one octave to its proper place. Is there another key combination that will allow me to add an E below the existing G instead of above it? Or is there a Preference setting that makes a Shift-E go below the existing note?

I know about the Ctrl-down shortcut which is what I meant about needing an extra action every time the added note went above the melody note. And I also had found the shortcut to move down by intervals - but it takes me longer to figure the interval than it does to enter the note by name and use Ctrl-down! ;)

Thanks for the reply - still holding out for a better (for me) alternative.
