Is there a template or "seed" feature?
I'm looking for a way to create a template or pattern - one or many measures - that can be entered many times, wherever I want, and then by changing the source template you automatically change all the examples of that template?

Nothing quite like that I can think of. You can of course copy and paste all you like, but the copies are true copies, so modifying one won't affect the others. There is also the standard measure repeat symbol, but that's also something a little different since it displays instead of the origianl notes, and it only works for successive measures. Sounds intriguing, though - can you explain your intended use case?
I suppose you could use the "linked parts" feature sort of in that manner.
