1.2 custom palettes disappeared?

• May 12, 2012 - 20:58

Before 1.2, I heavily used customized palettes (via ...\AppData\Local\MusE\MuseScore\mscore-palette.xml). This capability seems to have disappeared. I can't find any mscore-palette.xml or similar file either in the installation directories or in the user area. I haven't been able to find a discussion here about such a change, sorry if this is widely known.

If custom palettes are still possible, please tell me a) where to find the default/prototype for me to modify, and b) where this should go. I know that true custom palettes are in 2.0, but I'm using 1.2 for my brute force work. Thanks for any clues. I really need all my extra palette goobers for rapid editing.

There is no mscore-palette.xml if you don't modify the palette in the first place. So right click dor 2 or three seconds on palette title and in the menu that will appear select "Activate Edition", do some modification, close MuseScore and you'll have a mscore-palette.xml in your user space.

Ah. Many thanks. Curiously, I actually had to left-click and hold (I do think it used to be right-click). When I was trying to re-create my lost palettes, I tried various things but couldn't seem to make the palette interface behave like it used to (though perhaps I had forgotten the original steps I went through when I first started modifying mscore-palette.xml). I was surprised when my modified version simply vanished on upgrade though I understand the need to refresh. (Might be nice if this were flagged when it happened.) Thanks again.
