rests longer than one measure, or bar
I am writing music for alto sax. At the beginning of many pieces of music there will be several
measures of rest while the piano or some other instrument is playing. Then the sax part starts.
My question is: how do you make the heavy black line on those measures with the total number of
measures before the sax starts playing.
I have MuseScore MAC Professional.

Go to Style>general stlye and check "Multi-measure rests". It is generally best to do this once everything is laid out.
If you create your music as a full socre for saxophone as well as other instruments, the multimeasure rests are created automatically when you extact the individual parts.
