Repeat sign can not be deleted

Ok, so I have a 2 measure drum repeat that goes on for many measures, and I tried to create a 2 measure repeat, by putting the repeat sign straddling the bar line and putting a "2" over the sign, and made the second measure rest invisible. But for some reason it does not work.

So I need to go back and delete the repeat sign, but the software will not allow me to delete it. Any suggestions?
