How Do You Have Separate Melody Lines

I'm having an issue, suppose I have A major appegio root position being played as a chord in the treble as a semibreve, I however also want the notes A C E G played separately as four crotchets in the treble as well, musescore doesn't seem to let me do this, it merely changes the initial chord to a crotchets worth, however I don't want this
