Need help deleting scores!

• Feb 16, 2017 - 20:54

I have recently begin using muscore, and so far I am pretty happy with it. The only problem is that I don't know how to delete old versions of scores. I have a TON of crappy scores from when I accidentally save my "First Score".

Whenever I look at other forums telling how to delete scores it always just says to delete the file in the scores folder. But when I go to delete the scores, I only get the "save as" version.

Also, whenever I start up Musescore it brings up two windows, the start center and the "First Score" window. Is there a way to stop the First Score Window from appearing? Lol this is a lot of questions. Idk if you can see the pictures. XD

delete scores the same way you delere any other files on your system. on windows, this would normally be in Explorer; on Mac it would be Finder. select the file and press Delete.

Your first image appears to show auto saved files - with auto-generated names such as sccy5184, scNc4892, scy55808, etc.
To access those particular files you must open the session directory using your file brower (e.g. Windows Explorer) and delete .

See:
https://musescore.org/en/node/52116
for the location, depending on your OS (operating system).

Regards.

I believe if you select the view tab in file explorer and uncheck the hidden items box, the auto saved files will disappear. Since MS makes them invisible you are looking at invisible files.

Not sure exactly what the OP's problem is, but... That snapshot is Microsoft Windows. In general Windows has this infuriating thing about hiding various types of files by default. It's a half-*ssed abstraction that causes more trouble than it's worth. The OP seems to be unable to see the unwanted files in his file browser, yet they show up in MuseScore -- perhaps. Anyway, it's best to bite the bullet and delete the damned things. So I suggest that you open the folder in the Windows file Explorer, and click on:
Organize>Folder and Search Options>View
then change the 4 default settings so that nothing is hidden. I.e., do not hide files, empty drives, extensions, or OS files.

Then you'll be able to see these things and delete them.

I suppose you could leave the OS files hidden. As a developer I know what I'm doing, but frankly I have never seen anyone get high and go digging around in the OS directories and deleting stuff randomly, and I've set up dozens of computers for friends and family, and the first thing I do is enable visibility of everything.

I think you mean how to get rid of the old scores in the Score Center. Go to the File Menu. Then go down to Open Recent. Click on that and then you will see "Clear Recent." Click on that and then--when you open the program again and see the Score Center--they will be gone. Be sure to save the good ones first.
