On Windows 7, when I close all of the scores in MuseScore without closing the program, MuseScore crashes. This happens in both v1.2 and MuseScoreNightly-2012-08-02-5d88e6b. This bug does not seem to result in any data loss.
I cannot reproduce with 1.2 nor nightly. Are you working on a specific score or it's with any score? even a newly created?
Can you check if you don't have any of the known incompatibilities

The ticket you linked is a related issue, but the crash might actually be a separate problem. Screen reader support is also broken for MuseScore on Windows XP, but it doesn't have the crash problem.
Perhaps, but I wonder if it depends on what scores you have open and mode they are in when you close them. See #22409: Not saving one of multiple scores whilst both in Note Entry causes crash which I was still an issue last I checked. I've seen other crashes resulting from closing scores that appear to be tied to drum entry, presumably as a result of the same bug.

I discovered that the error only occurs when NVDA, my screen reader, is running. The crash log is attached to the ticket.

This crash still occurs on my new Windows 8 computer with MuseScore 1.2 and with nightly 35650ee. I have not seen this crash on Linux.
