Remember smaller window
In a session I can of course toggle between full screen window
and an optional smaller size.
But if I exit MuseScore and start it again it does not remember
the smaller size, I have to configure that again and again.

Put that as a feature request in the issue tracker to the right. Maybe someone will decide to add that feature. I would be nice. Someone who wants to fix it will assign it to themselves.
What OS, and what version of MuseScore? It *should* be remembering the window size on exit, except if you exit while the window is "maximized" (term from Windows, similar idea on other OS's), in which case it may not remeber that on some OS's. But non-maximized window sizes should be remembered on all OS's as far as I know.
Could you please test whether the same problem exists with a 2.1 nightly build, from https://musescore.org/en/download#Nightly-versions? It almost certainly has been fixed, along with other issues related to restoring the size and position of windows, but if not, please describe how to reproduce the issue in the most precise terms you can.
