In the MuseScore2 application, how do you actually add notes? I am trying to write something and it won't let me add in notes.

Step 1. Read the hand book, it gives instructions on everything. I would start with the PDF you can down load and at least peruse it to get familiar with MuseScore terminology. If all you want to do is enter notes then read this https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-input
What have you tried? Is it just that you don't know how to enter notes yet? Or do you think something is not working as it should?
Have you read the handbook section on Note Input (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/note-input)?
Do yourself a favor and take the time to watch the getting started videos (3rd one is about note entry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJSQCgqUZuM). It'll save you lots of time in the long run.
If you still have to get used to a method of entry; I would advise you to directly try and start off with the computer-keyboard method of entry if you're familiar with notenames. It is currently by far the fastest method of entry.
