Did it work before?
What did you select under preferences?:

Is a soundfont loaded?:

note: When it worked before, a soundfont is loaded, the revert to factory settings haven't any effect and you're using the same OS version as before it sounds to me as you should check (maybe reconfigure) the preferences for sounds in Windows. Do you have sound in other music applications?
