Unable to play sound

On my Surface Tablet, when I'm using Musescore, lately I am unable to use any function that involves playing sound. The play button is greyed out, and when I click on a note or place a note no sound is played. I used to be able to play sound using Musescore, but as of the last several weeks I can't. Do you know why this might be happening?
