Can I limit list of instruments available on existing scores?
I only ever want a limited selection of instruments, usually to modify existing midi files which I've read into V1.2. Having read the score in, when I open the mixer and go to change the instruments, I get a huge list. Is there any way to limit this? ( I have created an xml file with just the instruments I want but this only works if I want to create a new score from scratch).

I believe the mixer lists all 128 standard MIDI instruments, and I don't think there's a way to reduce that

Theis combo lists all the instruments available in the current soundfont, and it only has impact on sound. It's not linked with the instruments.xml. You can limit the list by using a soundfont with a limited number of instrument.

Which then wouldn't be a GM Soundfond anymore, right?

Well that's no bad thing - GM includes sound effects and other sounds which noone ever uses :)
Once 2.0 is here we will probably all go over to using multi-soundfonts anyway :)
