Note entry seems to completely ignore key signatures?

• Nov 10, 2012 - 02:12

Posting this here before I create a bug report to make sure it's a bug and note that in "preferences - note entry" that "alternate input method" IS disabled.

I created a new piece in Cm/E♭M and then create an E and an E natural is added to the score.

Say if I flatten it then it still plays as E♮ and If I sharpen it it plays as F♮...

If I add a natural then it plays as E♭ which is technically correct according to the key signature, but the lack of a natural in this key should also be E♭?

What is going on here? Surely this isn't intended behaviour?

Can you talk us through how you created the new score?

Maybe there is something you did which will shed light.

Also, it would be helpful for you to attach the score which is causing this problem.

Finally, are you able to consistently reproduce this behaviour? Occasionally creating a score results in a corruption which can result in strange behaviour.

Sometimes merely restarting MuseScore is enough to fix it. On other occasions the score remains corrupted and thus prone to weird behaviour - in this case, unless one of the whizzkids on the dev team is able to hack the file directly, the only answer is to redo the score from scratch.

If you can reproduce this behaviour consistently then it is definitely a bug which needs reporting. You should, however, see whether it is present in the latest nightly build of version 2 before reporting it - there will be no more bugfix releases of 1.x, The development team are focussed on getting version 2.0 ready for release.

I was just trying out the program for the first time... nothing much to note. I didn't even change any options.

- I created a new document, with no title or anything like that.
- Piano as the only instrument, default (common) time.
- I tried 2 key signatures and had the same problem with both.

I was able to reproduce it about 6-7 times, I think every time (if not but one) before it started annoying me and I stopped playing with the program.

I did try the latest nightly build by the way and had the same problem. I will have another play with it.

Thanks for your advice.

EDIT: As far as attaching the score, it was literally the first measure when I encountered the problem.

I enabled alternate input and applied that, then turned it off again and it seems to be working now. I guess somehow the setting was on and the UI is having a bad day and disagreed? Very strange.

I will play with the program some more when I get back later but after a few quick attempts [after doing the above], it seems to work fine now.

If this happens again I will certainly upload a score.

Hello, I seem to be having the same problem.
First time trying out the program. Tried making a custom key signature in D phrygian dominant and when I insert the triads of every note Musescore seems to completely ignore sharps and flats. First triad should be D major, but it ignores the F# thus making it a D minor.

What am I doing wrong?
Can't find "Alternate Input Method" in preferences.

EDIT: installed on Windows 10
