Giving percussion clef to pitched instruments and vice versa

• Apr 18, 2017 - 07:51

I'm working on a score with a percussion part. The percussionist has to switch from pitched instruments like xylophone to unpitched instruments like suspended cymbal. Normally, it would be notated in the score, "xylophone," or something, and the following notes would be written in treble clef instead of percussion clef. The problem is, I can't figure out how to get MuseScore to do this. It won't let me give treble clef to the percussion staff. If you really can't do that, then does anyone know a way around it?

Thank you.

Add both instruments and use 'Hide empty staves'. And when the change is supposed to happen mid-staff, insert a horizontal frame and make that zero width.
