Playback one step at a time

• Dec 3, 2012 - 09:59

I tried in vain to find if the following has been discussed here. After having added notes I can of course hear the result using playback. But in many cases I’d prefer to use right arrow key and advance the score step by step. However, I get to hear only one note of a chord. I’d like to hear the whole chords or both hands in the case of a piano score. Is this possible and how can it be done?

Not currently possible, but I'd like to see something like this as well some day. That and/or the "scrubbing" playback found in some other programs, where you control the time position with the mouse and it plays back wherever you point, moving forward or backward as you do.

Meanwhile, best workaround I know is to temporarily turn down the tempo scaling factor in the play panel so you have arbitrarily slow playback.

This is precisely what would help me too, and I assume it's still not available.

I'm a software engineer, and a basic feature built into every IDE is the ability to step through one line of code at a time in order to debug why things aren't working as they should. Having the ability to do this one voice at a time by using the arrows is helpful for debugging voice movement. But trying to hear the interplay of multiple voices on odd timings is key.

Hopefully this will get priority.
