Plugins that run asynchronously/don't need reloading

I have a plugin in mind that would create a notated chord corresponding to each chord name on the screen. I'm also working on a second plugin involving alternative note shapes (not Sacred Harp & Aiken).

In both cases, I feel it would be very tedious to keep re-running the plugin every time I made a change. I would like my plugin to run asynchronously with the rest of my work. Is there any way to accomplish this?
