Midi input stops working

• Jul 5, 2017 - 18:37

Several times during input, the midi stops working and I have to re-load the score. Any ideas?
Thanks. Sandy T.

What version of MuseScore, what OS, and which note input mode are you in? What specifically goes wrong? When this happens, do the other forms of input continue working? Can you attach a score and steps to reproduce the problem?

Musescore 2.1, OS ? what's that? I use a midi cable with a keyboard -
Musescore just stops recognizing notes I play on the keyboard (Yamaha). I can still type them in on the computer keyboard but to use my keyboard (Yamaha), I have to close the program and restart - sometimes twice.
This problem happens with different scores and just started happening with the new musescore download.

So, Windows versus macOS versus Linux are the OS choices.

So, you are currently in one of the note input modes, but again, which? There are now four: the original step time mode, the repitch mode added at 2.0, and the two new real-time modes added at 2.1.

Are you saying you are entering notes and things are working fine and then then suddenly, after entering one note successfully, the very next note doesn't? Or if it more the case that sometimes when you enter note input mode, MIDI input doesn't work at all (as opposed to works then stops within the very same note input session)? What happens if you turn the *keyboard* off then on, rather than restart MuseScore? Have you checked that the cable is not loose?

I'm experiencing a similar problem.

When I first open MuseScore, MIDI input works fine. I can even hit the left or right arrow to change where the input goes. But if I press more than one key at a time, it enters those notes twice (once on the attack and again on the release). After that, the only notes I can enter are for that chord. If I arrow over to the right, it stops entering notes altogether. I've tried turning off Note Input and then turning it back on again, but the problem persists. The only way I've found to get midi input back is to close MuseScore and reopen.

However, it seems the problem is restricted to the session and not embedded in a saved file. If I save after the problem occurs, and relaunch MuseScore, the freshly loaded score doesn't have the midi input problems (until I hit more than one key again).

I'm running MuseScore 2.1 revision 871c8ce on Mac OS X 10.11.3. My keyboard is a Roland RS-5 connected via an AGPtek MIDI-to-USB cable.
